Six individuals, including two Ugandan nationals, have been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Bungoma Law Courts for their involvement in the murder of Michael Gacheche and the robbery of KSh 2 million.

The sentencing was handed down by Principal Magistrate Tom Orlando, following a lengthy trial that underscored the seriousness of the crime.
The crime occurred on June 8, 2020, in Bungoma town, outside Keringet Hotel. According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the six individuals—Milton Makuma, John Wakwale, Brian Ochieng, Dennis Andoli, Emmanuel Watiti, and Patrick Omia—were part of a coordinated attack on Michael Gacheche.
The assailants fatally shot Gacheche while he was in his vehicle and fled with KSh 2 million, using a motorcycle to escape the scene quickly. The robbery was planned meticulously, indicating a high level of premeditation.
Following the attack, all seven suspects were initially apprehended by law enforcement. However, during their detention at Bungoma Police Station, two suspects managed to escape. Law enforcement quickly launched a manhunt, leading to the rearrest of Dennis Andoli, who was caught attempting to flee to Uganda.
Despite this effort, one suspect, John Wanyonyi Wamalwa, remains at large. During the trial, 18 prosecution witnesses provided evidence that helped secure the convictions.
The court ultimately found all six present suspects guilty of robbery with violence, a charge that carries severe penalties under Kenyan law.
