According to the MP, he was ambushed by a group of "goons" in the middle of the day at the Cereals Board area in Maraba. He further elaborates that after the confrontation, the attackers falsely accused him of stealing a phone and forced him to seek medical attention at Kakamega County General Hospital (CGH). "Nilikuwa nimeundwa vilivyo na goons wa Cleo Malala saa nane mchana pale Cereals Maraba, Kakamega town. I had gone to the hospital pale Kakamega CGH tena wakaniwekea nilikuwa nimeiba simu," he wrote, recalling the difficult and humiliating experience.
